A New Zealand Love Story
Brendan & Wei Xuan’s New Zealand pre-wedding shoot moved through some of the South Island’s most striking contrasts. A helicopter carried them above Lake Wakatipu toward Cecil Peak. From there, the palette shifted into glacier blue and, finally, the open roads of Mount Cook National Park. Across each stop, expansive landscapes were balanced by moments that felt relaxed, playful, and unmistakably theirs.
Lake Wakatipu & Cecil Peak
The journey climbed high at Lake Wakatipu and Cecil Peak. Brendan & Wei Xuan arrived by helicopter, stepping out onto a broad snowfield with mountains, water, and distant ridgelines unfolding beneath them. Wei Xuan changed into a white gown, letting the look blend more softly into the snow while the helicopter remained part of the story rather than just the transport. They walked across the ridge, stood together above the lake, and stayed out as the light grew warmer near the horizon. Against such an elevated setting, even the smallest gestures felt magnified—holding hands, turning toward each other, or simply standing still to take in the view.
Glacier
At the glacier, the scenery shifted from white snow to luminous shades of blue. Wei Xuan changed into a deep navy gown that echoed the color of the water while standing out against the pale ice formations behind her. Brendan kept to a dark suit, giving the two of them a strong, graphic presence against the bright alpine setting. They stayed near the water’s edge, moving between rocks while chunks of ice floated across the lake behind them. The atmosphere felt cooler and more sculptural here, with fewer elements competing for attention. After the softness of the snowfields, the glacier brought sharper textures and a richer, more dramatic palette.
Mount Cook National Park
Mount Cook National Park loosened the mood for the final chapter. With snow-capped peaks rising directly ahead, Brendan & Wei Xuan stepped onto a long, empty road that seemed to run straight into the mountains. They held hands, ran together, leaned into each other, and even sat down on the asphalt between frames, letting the setting feel more like part of a road trip than a formal portrait stop. Wei Xuan’s white gown moved easily against the dry golden grass and gray road, while Brendan alternated between a suit and a more relaxed shirt-and-trouser look. It was an easy ending to a day filled with extraordinary landscapes.
After the peaks, the flight, and the ice, they ended exactly where a New Zealand journey should—on the open road.
