A journey through some of New Zealand’s most cinematic landscapes, moving from rugged mountain valleys and quiet countryside to sweeping alpine views and a night beneath the stars.
Aurelia and Glen’s shoot began among the dramatic ridgelines of Skippers Canyon before shifting into the warmer, more relaxed surroundings of an alpaca farm. From there, Cardrona and Twin Peak opened up into vast mountain scenery, golden grasslands and panoramic views stretching far into the distance. As daylight faded, the journey ended beside a vintage Kombi van under a clear, star-filled sky.
From soft afternoon light to glowing mountain sunsets and the darkness of the southern night, each location revealed a different side of New Zealand’s remarkable landscape.

Skippers Canyon
Skippers Canyon opens into a landscape of steep ridgelines, dry golden grass and mountains stretching deep into the horizon. Its rugged terrain gives the scenery an almost untouched quality, with every turn revealing another dramatic view. The scale of the canyon becomes the defining element here. Against vast open skies and layers of distant mountains, the photographs capture the raw, untamed character that makes this part of New Zealand so distinctive.
Alpaca Farm
The mood softens at the alpaca farm, where warm sunlight filters through the trees and the surrounding countryside takes on a gentler rhythm. Curious alpacas wandering through the grounds add a playful, spontaneous element to the afternoon. Golden foliage, open fields and warm backlight make this one of the softer chapters of the shoot, offering a relaxed contrast to the dramatic mountain landscapes elsewhere in the journey.
Cardrona
Cardrona is defined by space - wide valleys, rolling terrain and enormous skies that seem to stretch endlessly overhead. There is a distinctly cinematic quality to this part of New Zealand. Twin Peak
From Twin Peak, the landscape opens completely. Mountain ridges fall away into the distance while lakes, valleys and winding terrain spread out far below. Late afternoon light transforms the mountains into layers of gold and shadow, creating some of the most dramatic scenery of the day. As the sun drops lower, the entire landscape takes on a softer glow, making this elevated viewpoint a natural highlight of the journey.
Night Shoot
After sunset, the landscape changes completely. Away from the brighter lights of town, the night sky becomes the main feature, filled with stars above the dark silhouette of the mountains. A vintage Kombi van adds a nostalgic road-trip element to the scene, softly illuminated against the darkness. After a day of mountain views and golden landscapes, the quiet night setting creates a striking final contrast - ending the journey beneath one of New Zealand’s clearest skies.
