New Zealand Pre-Wedding Photoshoot | Alpaca Farm, Mt John, Lake Tekapo, Mount Cook National Park, Glacier Lake & Omarama Clay Cliffs
A New Zealand Love Story
Weiting & Gary’s New Zealand pre-wedding shoot moved from playful countryside moments into some of the South Island’s most expansive landscapes. Their day began among sheep and alpacas before opening onto the golden slopes and distant lake views of Mt John. From there, Lake Tekapo, Mount Cook National Park, and a glacier lake brought them deeper into the alpine landscape, before the journey ended among the sculpted walls of Omarama Clay Cliffs.
Alpaca Farm & Mt John
The day began on the playful side, with Weiting & Gary stepping into a paddock filled with sheep and alpacas. In casual neutral layers, they crouched among the flock, laughed as the animals gathered around them, and simply enjoyed the unpredictability of the farm. From there, the landscape opened dramatically at Mt John. They changed into formal wedding attire and walked through golden tussock with Lake Tekapo and layers of mountains stretching into the distance. The shift from curious animals to wide alpine views gave this first chapter plenty of range—starting lighthearted and close to the ground, then gradually opening into the scale of New Zealand’s high country.
The day began among the flock, then opened into mountains as far as they could see.
Lake Tekapo, Mount Cook National Park & Glacier Lake
This part of the journey moved through several layers of New Zealand’s alpine landscape. Weiting & Gary spent quieter moments along the stony shore of Lake Tekapo before continuing toward Mount Cook National Park, where snowy peaks and long open roads changed the scale once again. By the glacier lake, Weiting changed into a deep blue gown that stood out against the pale ice, gray rocks, and surrounding mountains. They moved between the water’s edge, rocky terrain, and wide mountain views without rushing from one scene to the next. Each stop shared the same cool alpine palette, yet carried a distinctly different atmosphere.
Omarama Clay Cliffs
Omarama Clay Cliffs closed the shoot with a landscape unlike anything earlier in the day. Tall ochre formations rose sharply around Weiting & Gary, creating narrow passageways and natural walls that felt almost architectural. They walked deeper between the clay spires, pausing where the late light caught the textured surfaces and warmed the entire scene. Against the earthy tones, Weiting’s pale gown and Gary’s dark suit kept their silhouettes crisp and simple. After lakes, mountains, ice, and open roads, finishing somewhere more enclosed gave the story a satisfying change of scale—a final chapter shaped by texture rather than distance.
From the flock to the mountains, every stop gave them a different way to experience New Zealand together.
