New Zealand Pre-Wedding Photoshoot | Lake Wakatipu, Fog Peak, Lake Tekapo, Glacier & Mount Cook National Park
A New Zealand Love Story
Joey & Jun Lim’s New Zealand pre-wedding shoot moved through some of the South Island’s most dramatic landscapes, from the blue waters of Lake Wakatipu to a helicopter flight into the snow at Fog Peak. The journey continued through the quieter shores of Lake Tekapo, an icy glacier landscape, and finally Mount Cook National Park. Across lakes, mountains, snowfields, and open roads, the scenery kept changing—but the day always felt grounded by the easy, playful way they moved through it together.
Lake Wakatipu
Lake Wakatipu opened the story with wide water, dry golden grass, and snow-dusted mountains stretching across the horizon. Joey & Jun Lim stayed close along the shoreline, moving between higher viewpoints and the quieter edge of the lake. Her white gown caught the breeze across the open landscape, while his dark suit gave the scene a clean contrast. Later, Joey changed into a soft blush-toned gown as they stepped down onto the pebbled shore, where the mountains reflected across the still water behind them. It was a calm beginning—spacious, uncluttered, and entirely shaped by the scale of the landscape around them.
New Zealand began quietly, with a lake ahead and mountains stretching far beyond it.
Fog Peak
Fog Peak changed the scale of the day completely. Joey & Jun Lim arrived by helicopter and stepped into a landscape covered almost entirely in white, with mountain ridges falling away beneath them and Lake Wakatipu visible far below. The helicopter itself became part of the experience, appearing beside them before the focus shifted to the open snowfield. They walked across the ridge, held hands against the wind, and stayed close as the light softened toward evening. With Joey’s long veil moving across the snow and warm color beginning to appear along the horizon, the stop felt expansive without becoming distant—a mountaintop moment that still remained very much about the two of them.
Lake Tekapo
Lake Tekapo slowed the pace again. Joey & Jun Lim stood along the stony shoreline with still water in front of them and low, snow-touched hills rising beyond the lake. The atmosphere here was softer and more muted than the earlier mountain scenes, with an overcast sky and subdued winter tones shaping the frame. They moved between the water’s edge and the nearby trees, walking hand in hand and leaning into each other as the landscape grew quieter around them. Joey’s full white gown brought a gentle brightness to the gray-blue surroundings, making this stop feel simple, peaceful, and comfortably unhurried.
Glacier
The glacier introduced an entirely different palette. Joey changed into a deep blue gown that echoed the icy tones around them, standing out against the pale turquoise formations and snow-covered slopes. She and Jun Lim stayed close along the rocky ground, letting the unusual textures of the ice take over the background. The setting felt raw and almost otherworldly, but the contrast between the environment and their formal styling kept the scene elegant rather than severe. With the ice stretching behind them and Joey’s blue train falling across the ground, this part of the shoot had a stronger, more dramatic presence than the quieter lakeside chapters before it.
Mount Cook National Park
Mount Cook National Park brought out the most playful side of the day. Joey & Jun Lim traded formalwear for casual black-and-white outfits and stepped onto an empty mountain road surrounded by snow-dusted slopes and low clouds. They ran hand in hand, gave piggyback rides, sat right in the middle of the road, and played in the falling snow without worrying about looking polished. After the gowns, helicopters, and dramatic landscapes of the earlier stops, this final chapter felt refreshingly loose. The mountains remained imposing around them, but the focus had shifted completely—from posing within the scenery to simply enjoying where they were.
After all the mountains, snow, and wide-open views, the day ended with the simplest thing—having fun together.
