Raphaella and John travelled from the Philippines to Hokkaido for a winter prewedding that felt relaxed, playful, and true to who they are as a couple.
We planned their outfits to match both the setting and the progression of the day — starting with a classic white gown and suit against the snowy landscapes, and later transitioning into softer tones that complemented the quiet, reflective scenes by the lake.
The shoot began at Fukidashi Park, where the open space and natural textures gave us a gentle start. From there, we moved to Hilton Niseko Village for wider views with Mount Yotei in the background. As we planned for changing weather conditions, the snowfall came in heavier than expected — and instead of holding back, they leaned into it. Running through the snow, laughing, and staying fully present became one of the most meaningful parts of the shoot.
We ended the day at Lake Toya during sunset, intentionally timing it for softer light and clear reflections of the mountains. The stillness of the lake contrasted naturally with the earlier movement, giving the overall experience a sense of balance.
More than just visiting locations, the day was paced to flow — allowing space for real moments to happen, while making sure each setting brought out a different side of them.
