Beloved couple Miki Rai and Kevin explored Taipei, from historic streets to misty waterfalls and lantern-lit nights in Jiufen

Client: Miki & Kevin from United States

It was such a joy to welcome Japanese-American influencer Miki Rai and her fiancé Kevin to Taiwan for their pre-wedding shoot. It was Kevin’s first time in the country, and together, they were hoping for something more than just beautiful photos—they wanted to experience the real Taiwan. From cultural traditions to local flavours, they were looking for something genuine and true to the place.

That became the heart of the shoot we planned for them: a day filled with heartfelt moments, local charm, and slow, meaningful exploration. From misty mountains to nostalgic streets, every stop gave them a chance to connect—not just with each other, but with the soul of Taiwan itself.

Dadaocheng

We began our shoot in the historic streets of Dadaocheng, where time seems to slow down. Miki and Kevin wandered hand in hand through the charming old shophouses, soaking in the vintage textures and warm tones of the neighbourhood. The morning light cast a soft glow on the narrow lanes, making it the perfect place to capture quiet, candid moments between the two of them.

Along the way, they stopped by a local snack shop, trying traditional Taiwanese treats and sharing sweet laughs over unexpected flavours—it was such a simple, joyful moment that brought their personalities to life on camera. We also visited a nearby temple, where the couple paused to take in the peaceful atmosphere.

Miki and Kevin continued exploring the neighbourhood’s rich cultural charm. They popped into a cosy roadside eatery, where the aroma of freshly made dishes filled the air. Surrounded by locals and the comforting sounds of sizzling pans, they shared a casual meal that added an authentic, everyday touch to their shoot—proof that love stories don’t always need grand backdrops to feel cinematic. Afterwards, they wandered into a quaint local café. The warm, rustic interiors and soft afternoon light created a quiet space for the couple to unwind.

To end their time in Dadaocheng, Miki and Kevin treated themselves to ice cream from a charming street vendor, laughing as they raced to finish their scoops before they melted in the warm afternoon sun. Just around the corner, they stumbled upon a row of gachapon machines—and, of course, couldn’t resist trying their luck. It was such a fun, spontaneous moment that perfectly captured their playful dynamic. Dadaocheng was more than just a backdrop; it became a memory in itself, full of laughter, flavour, and heartfelt connection.

Golden Waterfall

When we arrived at Golden Waterfall, the skies were heavy with clouds, and a light rain drizzled down, cloaking the mountains in mist. Rather than shy away from the weather, Miki and Kevin leaned into it, laughing under shared umbrellas, twirling along the wet paths, and embracing the quiet romance that only a rainy day could offer.

The golden-streaked cliffs glistened in the rain, and the soft fog that rolled through the valley gave every frame a dreamlike, cinematic feel. There was something effortlessly beautiful about the way they made the most of the moment, finding joy in the drizzle and connection in the quiet. It was a reminder that sometimes, the most unforgettable memories are made when plans give way to spontaneity.

Jiu Fen

We ended the day with a night shoot in Jiufen, and it was nothing short of magical. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the lantern-lit streets came alive with a warm, nostalgic glow. Miki and Kevin strolled through the narrow alleyways, hand in hand, soaking in the atmosphere that felt straight out of a Studio Ghibli film.

Wandering through its nostalgic streets, Miki and Kevin treated themselves to warm, traditional Taiwanese desserts at a charming old-school shop. Between laughter and stolen glances, they ended their day the sweetest way possible—under soft lantern lights and the comfort of local flavours.

From wandering heritage streets to trying local snacks and soaking in mountain views, the day unfolded naturally, with moments that felt easy, real, and full of warmth. It was a simple but memorable way to celebrate this chapter of their journey—through both new discoveries and shared laughter along the way.
