A Kyoto, Osaka & Nara Love Story
Drawn to the quiet poetry of Japan in autumn, Nicole Lim & Lim Zihao traveled to Kyoto to document their pre-wedding story. Their journey unfolded seamlessly through three distinct seasonal atmospheres—beginning along the calm, forested waters of Arashiyama River, continuing past ancient wooden temple gates in cozy autumn layers, and finishing high above the valley as sunset illuminated the grasslands of Mt. Wakakusa alongside free-roaming deer.
Arashiyama River
The day opened along the tranquil banks of the Arashiyama River, where mirror-like waters reflected the rich tapestry of vibrant red, orange, and green hillside foliage. Nicole Lim wore an elegant strapless mermaid gown that swept gracefully across stone benches, while Lim Zihao complemented her in a tailored black suit. Hand in hand beneath low-hanging maple branches, the couple paused to share gentle looks and quiet smiles. The cool river air and soft autumn light created a peaceful, painterly backdrop, capturing an effortless moment of connection as the city slowly woke.

Arashiyama Temple
Transitioning into a relaxed casual style, Nicole Lim changed into a cozy cream coat and patterned scarf over denim, while Lim Zihao wore a warm tan jacket. Wandering through historic temple courtyards, under bright yellow ginkgo canopies, and past red torii gates, the mood shifted to lighthearted warmth. They paused on red felt benches outside traditional teahouses, sharing laughter and lingering close under moss-covered roofs. The contrast of rich foliage, ancient dark wood, and their comfortable streetwear brought an authentic, lived-in feel to this chapter of their journey.
Mt. Wakakusa
For the final leg of their day, they climbed to the open grasslands of Mt. Wakakusa overlooking the wide valley below. Nicole Lim stepped back into her bridal gown with a soft sheer veil that caught the hilltop breeze, while gentle local deer gathered around them on the dry ridge. As the sun dipped toward the horizon, bathing the mountain in deep amber light, the two embraced against the endless skyline. Dancing together on the crest as twilight settled over the city below, their story reached a breathless, magical close in the golden dusk.
