Rome Pre-Wedding Photoshoot | Rome Streets, Capitoline Hill, Basilica of St. Anthony, Villa Borghese & Giardino di Sant’Alessio
A Italy Love Story
Ceci and Kit’s Rome pre-wedding shoot was built around the city rather than just its famous landmarks. They spent the day walking through neighborhood streets, taking in the view from Capitoline Hill, stepping into a grand basilica, rowing through Villa Borghese, and ending among the gardens as the evening light settled over Rome. With a few outfit changes along the way, the shoot moved naturally between classic, playful, and quieter moments without ever feeling too staged.
Rome Streets
Ceci and Kit started with the easiest way to get into the rhythm of Rome: just walking. In her off-shoulder white gown and veil, Ceci moved through the warm-toned streets while Kit kept things classic in a navy tuxedo. They passed old doorways, small cafés, parked scooters, and plenty of everyday city life, occasionally drawing smiles from people along the way. Rather than clearing the streets for perfectly clean frames, the movement around them became part of the story. They eventually traded the formal looks for something more casual and stopped for a drink, letting the morning settle into a much more relaxed pace.
Rome gave them plenty to see, but the best parts were the ones they made their own.
Capitoline Hill
At Capitoline Hill, the scale of Rome opened up around Ceci and Kit. From the elevated terraces, ancient ruins and rows of ochre buildings stretched into the distance, giving their portraits a completely different sense of space from the narrow streets earlier. Ceci’s gown came into its own here, especially when she lifted the skirt or let the long train fall across the steps, while Kit’s dark tuxedo stood cleanly against the sun-warmed architecture. They moved between overlooks, stairways, and quieter corners rather than staying in one spot, turning the location into a short walk through several different sides of historic Rome.
Basilica of St. Anthony
The pace shifted the moment Ceci and Kit stepped inside the Basilica of St. Anthony. After the brightness and movement outside, the ornate interior felt noticeably quieter, with painted ceilings, detailed columns, and soft pockets of light drawing the eye upward. Ceci’s white gown and veil suited the traditional setting naturally, while Kit’s tuxedo kept the overall look formal without competing with the architecture. They kept the movement simple here, walking down the aisle, standing together beneath the high ceiling, and taking in the space around them. It gave the middle of the shoot a calmer pause before heading back outdoors.
Villa Borghese
Villa Borghese brought out the playful side of the day. Ceci and Kit climbed into a small rowboat and made their way around the lake, with trees, reflections, and the Temple of Aesculapius appearing behind them. The rowing was not always about looking polished, and that was exactly what made this part work: there were laughs, slightly awkward paddle moments, and plenty of chances to simply react to each other. Once back on land, they kept walking around the water in the same wedding looks, giving the formal outfits a much more casual setting before moving toward the final, softer part of the evening.
Giardino di Sant’Alessio
For the last stop, Ceci changed into a soft blue-gray gown and the whole shoot took on a more relaxed evening feel. At Giardino di Sant’Alessio, they walked through the greenery, sat together overlooking Rome, and watched the light gradually turn warmer behind the city skyline. The fuller skirt gave this final look a different personality from the white bridal gown earlier, but it still felt completely at home against the garden’s stone walls and muted tones. There was less to do by this point, which suited the moment perfectly. They could simply sit, talk, and finish the day without rushing anywhere else.
By the end of the day, Rome felt less like a backdrop and more like somewhere they had lived a little together.
