Calista and Nathanael’s Lake Como shoot marked a pretty important moment: the start of their engagement. The day began out on the lake, cruising past mountain views and waterfront villas before slowing things down in Varenna with a change of outfits, café drinks, and a walk through the village. Rather than turning the proposal into something overly staged, the shoot followed them through the excitement of the day and all the little moments that came right after.

Between Lake and Mountains

Calista and Nathanael took their newly engaged excitement straight onto the water, cruising across Lake Como with mountains in the distance and waterfront villas lining the shore. Calista’s flowing white dress caught the breeze beautifully, while Nathanael kept things relaxed in a light shirt and beige trousers. They sat together at the front of the boat, leaned into each other between stops, and of course spent some time admiring the new ring. With the boat moving gently across the lake, there was very little they needed to do beyond enjoying the view and letting the excitement of the proposal sink in.

Varenna

A Pause in Varenna

After the boat ride, Calista and Nathanael changed into casual outfits and settled into Varenna at a much slower pace. They stopped at an outdoor café for drinks, talked across a tiny table, and wandered through the colorful lakeside village with no real need to rush anywhere. As they made their way toward the waterfront, the light softened and the lake became the backdrop again, this time from shore. The contrast made this half of the shoot feel especially personal: less about the scale of Lake Como, and more about the simple fun of spending the first few hours of their engagement together.
